Another championship and 1 Million dollars have slipped away!

I have been back from Pittsburgh fishing in the Forrest L. Wood Cup for $1 million and already raced to another FLW series event that was as tough of a fishery.  The cup did not go nearly as well as planned - I had a decent practice and discovered something the last day that I thought had great potential, but conditions changed drastically and I failed to adjust with them.  I had found that I could catch a lot of suspended fish around the barges and under docks but that evaporated when we had som heavy rain that muddied the water and brought strong current adn caused the fish to scatter down the banks.  I ended up throwing a Megabass pop-x under trees with mayflies hatching on them and throwing a Berkley slim shakey on current breaks to catch a measly 5 fish over two days and finish 50th place.

I left directly from there to go to Lake Dardenelle in AR for the third stop of the FLW Series.  This was an equally tough fishery due to the time of year.  My practice was lackluster and it seemed as though each bite was as random as a collision between me and a fish.  I went into the tournament going to fish a lot of new water and with the fish being in a summer pattern and not replenishing I would try to fish where other competitors were not.  That worked for the first three days leavin me in third place with a total of 26lbs and some change.  The wheels fell off on days four - I continued to flip my Berkley chigger craw and cast a 4" ripple shad but did not have any bites and zeroed that day moving me to 8th place.  There were four of the top five that caught the same weight of zero that day to save me from falling to 10th.  I was tickled to catch what I caught because it was so easy to catch nothing and my practice was terrible - I made the right decisions throughout the event.  Hopefully i can do the same at the final FLW series event in a few weeks at Clarks Hill, GA!

Good Luck!
